Fix: play your samples back, if there are a few that pop, move your loop end points forward or backward 1 or 2 samples and see if that fixes it, otherwise, get it close then use crossfade. (FYI: Kontakt's DFD does not support loop crossfading). That's part of the reason that there is a 'loop crossfade' parameter on so many samplers, to accomodate this. Even with the best sample conversion software, many times you will have to bump sample loop end points around (usually +/- 5 samples) until you have a seamless loop.

Anyone (like me) that has sampled something in sound forge, imported it on a Roland XV-5080, and likewise into Kontakt will tell you "just because the loop plays fine on one sampler doesn't mean it will be that way on all of them". CDXtract converts all your sampler CDs (Akai, Roland, EMU, Kurzweil.) and files (Giga, Soundfont, Kontakt, Halion, EXS24.) so that you can use them in your Sampler software. you can visibly observe that many Roland loops loop the left side and the right side of stereo samples differently (at different points), which means that when the samples are interleaved and imported, you end up with the left side's loop point applied to the right side, which will yield an OK loop on the left side, but usually clicking on the right.Īnother fact of the matter, all samplers and soft samplers interpret loops differently, and loop positions as well. It is phenomenal!! It can convert to and from Gigasampler, Gigastudio, Reaktor map, EMU SF1 and SF2, Akai S1000 and S5000/6000, Roland plus so many more. Just when I thought all hope was lost, I found a program with a funny name. On top of that, I had to purchase seperate program just to extract the ensoniq image file to the my hardrive before I could convert any of the patches. I found that this particular program didn't even handle basic envelope and looping functions. Ilio Samples Cd, Ilya Efimov Sound Production, Image Line, Imaginando, IMEA, iMidiPatchBay. Keep in mind that since the sample patches are proprietary so they are not going to be programmed 100% exact when converted and used in a different format. CDSoundMaster, CDXtract, CEDAR Audio, Celemony, Celestion. This one is alright, but does not accurately translate from one format to the other. The following tests were done with a Roland S-760 OS 2.24, Translator 2.5 build 61 (Windows) and CDXtract 4 (Windows) and with a sample rate of 44.100 Hertz (The response curve of the Roland de-emphasis filter changes with the sample rate) The procedure that I used for these tests is very simple and anybody who has a S760 can easily verify them. I did some research and found two programs that would be able to convert my libraries to whatever format I wanted. "man, I have all these libraries that I cant use anymore, that sucks". I have Gigasampler which takes care of my Akai Collection but thats it. CD-ROMs or CDs that contain samples for musicians often consisting of hundreds of tracks to pull from. I also have 2 Roland CD's but no Roland Sampler, not to mention my 10 CD Soundfont library. I have a 30 CD Ensoniq ASR-10 library but no longer do I have the ASR-10.
